Royal Johor Country Club

The Chinese New Year Golf competition was played on 11.2.2006. We were honoured to have Her Majesty Sultanah Zanariah, Sultanah of Johor participate in the competition. Amy Lim won the competition with a score of 40 Stableford points, way ahead of the rest of the field. The following are the results:-

We played host to 36 ladies from Kelab Golf Negara Subang on 24.2.2006 when the KGNS ladies came over for a friendly match. As we do not have that many ladies, we had to borrow players from among the men to make up the numbers. Everyone enjoyed themselves both during the game and at the dinner held after the game. At the end, our ladies and men proved too strong on their home ground by winning the overall match 15 to 3. The Ladies Club Championship 2006 was played on 6.5.2006 & 7.5.2006. The ladies slogged it out on our tough course over 2 days. Eventually, Mala Nathan won the Championship. The overall results are as follows:

The interclub against the ladies of Sembawang Country Club was held on 23.6.2006 at RJCC. In spite of changing the format of play to suit our ladies, we still lost to the ladies of SCC. The overall score – RJCC 4, SCC 7. The best pairs from RJCC were:-

1st - Lee Siew Peng (29) & Wei Sau Lim (30) } 44 points
2 nd - Alice Tay (26) & Tai Yock Chong (31)} 41 points
3rd - Mala Nathan (13) & T. Dhana (27) } 40 points

A Social 9 game was played on 14.7.2006 on the 1 st Nine. A good number of ladies turned up for the game. Nancy Chang beat 2 others on count back to win the prize. The overall results are as follows:-

About a week later i.e. on 20.7.2006, our ladies went over for the keenly anticipated interclub match with the ladies of Singapore Island Country Club. After a sumptuous lunch, all the ladies gathered for a group photograph before battling it out on the Island Course. The matches were keenly fought with some matches being decided on the final hole. At the end, the host club emerged victorious.

The Overall Score – RJCC 4 ½ SICC 7 ½

Several of our ladies, namely Mala Nathan, Rukeah Allapiche, Wong Joyce Lyn, Siti Abu Samah, Jasbeer Kaur and Mary Harbhajan were part of the record-breaking Johor Golf Carnival which teed off and was played simultaneously all over the State of Johor on 26.8.2006.

In conjunction with the Merdeka celebrations, a Merdeka Golf competition was held on 16.9.2006. The mode of play for this event was Strokeplay. The ladies who won prizes were:

1st - Nancy Chang Nett 75
2nd - Amy Lim Nett 76 ocb
3rd - Siti Abu Samah Nett 76

Just like in the previous year, there was a joint Hari Raya and Deepavali Golf competition which was played on 11.11.2006. The winner of this Deeparaya Golf competition was Nancy Chang who scored 34 Stableford points

The ladies had also participated in various other competitions and interclub games (both away and home) held at the same time with the men as follows:-

• 16.7.2006 - RJCC vs. Tuanku Jaafar Golf Resort (Home)

Having passed the MGA Rules School 2006 Examination and having completed her apprenticeship, RJCC Lady Captain, Ms. Mala Nathan was registered as a Referee with the Malaysian Golf Association in 2006, making her the first lady referee in Johor.

On the whole, we had a very active and fruitful year. Well done, ladies!
